ABOUT US

Farm to families is a project that was started by Lucie Scaglione for her Girl Scouts Gold Award. The goal of the project was to bring fresh produce to low income families in the area. This idea came to me early in 2016. I was thinking about how important eating healthy was to my family, but also how expensive it really was. At the time, my family was eating a low carb diet with lots of produce, but whenever I went grocery shopping with my parents, I was shocked to see a receipt for hundreds of dollars. "How can anyone afford to eat healthy?" I asked myself. Then it hit me that many less fortunate families most likely could not afford this and were forced to forgo a diet with fruits and vegetables, settling for cheaper but less healthy options. So, I dedicated this project to taking action to solve that issue one community at a time.
